“I wanted to formally write and thank you for all your help”.
What a lovely first line of an email from Ursula, one of my private 1-2-1 yoga students.
Ursula contacted me via LinkedIn when she saw my post about providing private 1-2-1 yoga classes. She had incurred a Grade 2 Calf Tear in May 2018 which had caused bad sciatic pain ever since and, as a result, she was struggling to get back to fitness.
“I attended months of physio, then visited a chiropractor, but was still in pain on a daily basis,” said Ursula.
“In addition to this – I was struggling to sleep which was really affecting my ability to concentrate at work.
“Both my physio and chiropractor advised me to take up yoga – but I could not keep-up in group classes and often left in a worse condition than I had arrived”.
I often hear so many people are put off starting yoga as they are worried they won’t know what they are doing in a group class (if they haven’t attended a beginners course first) or that they are concerned they will hold the class back. And often, as with Ursula, they are put off returning as they felt they weren’t guided as well as they could have been – and simply come away demotivated and deciding ‘yoga isn’t for me’.
This is why I absolutely love being able to provide private 1-2-1 classes – not only does it allow me to plan a programme that suits and will benefit the individual perfectly – but will also demonstrate just how flexible and capable they are and how, actually, yoga is something they can love.
Pain free and sleeping again
“After just eight, weekly 1-2-1 sessions with you [YogaWithVickiB] – I am pleased to say I am now pain-free and sleeping again.
“I cannot thank you enough for your patience and understanding – it’s made a huge impact on my life. I appreciate the journey does not end here and I look forward to continuing to build strength and resilience. I am hopeful that I will be in a position to attend classes soon and get back to normal,” said Ursula.
Thank you Ursula. It has been a pleasure watching you gain your strength and flexibility back – but mainly to know you are now pain free! Even when you are ‘overdoing’ things – a long walk in heels, hours of gardening, long car or train journeys (pre-lockdown of course) your body is better able, and you now know what to do to stop the pain taking hold.
We continue to work together – twice weekly during this current lockdown period – and adding the extra session each week means Ursula is able to see even more benefits.
